Fostering Kids

http://fosteringkids.org.nz/

Fostering kids provide practical, ongoing support including:

  • specialised training programs and materials to foster parents in areas such as helping overcome arrival behaviour like stealing food to hoard, older-age bedwetting, violence and swearing
  • training for new challenges as they emerge, such as morphine addicted babies, already-sexualised primary school children and developmental delays that can crop up years’s later due to a birth mother’s heavy drinking
  • connecting new foster parents with others near them for mutual support
  • motivating struggling teenagers in foster care through workshops with inspirational adults from fostered backgrounds
  • advice on Child Youth and Family, court and legal issues. Some foster parents find these more of a challenge than the kids
  • taking calls from and visiting foster parents facing challenging situations with their children or the Foster Care system.

http://www.shatteredlives.org.nz/

Victim Support is a community organisation that helps people hurt by crime and other trauma.  Thay provide emotional and practical support, information, financial assistance, referral to other support services and advocacy for victims' rights. This helps victims and their families find strength, hope and safety in the face of grief and trauma. It helps them deal with, and participate in, the criminal justice system. It helps them be in control of getting their lives back on track and ensures they get the services they need and their rights upheld. Victim Support's 1000+ volunteers and 130 paid staff are available 24/7, 365 days of the year in over 70 locations throughout New Zealand. Victim Support is an independent charitable trust that works closely with the NZ Police.

Cullen Will Fly

http://www.cullenwillfly.comli.com/

A Letter from Cullen.

My name is Cullen Gilbert and I have Cerebral Palsy. I was born 06.06.2010 with Birth Asphyxia and my Cerebral Palsy is a result of that. I spent 4 weeks in New Born Intensive Care Unit at Waikato Hospital and at one stage there it was pretty touch and go, and according to the Doctors I am one very lucky little boy to be here today. The Doctors here have told me that my abilities in the future are by no means guaranteed and we have been told that I may not walk, I may not talk, and I may not even be able to feed myself.

My Mummy and Daddy refuse to let this be the case and are determined to give me every opportunity they can to ensure that I get the best out of my body, they believe I deserve the chance to fly.  Because of this belief they have researched and found a place in America that can possibly give me that chance!! The Doctors in this clinic can give me a stem cell transplant which can help regenerate healthy tissues in my brain, reducing the implications of my Cerebral Palsy. This treatment is very expensive and your help is much appreciated - every dollar donated is a dollar closer to helping me to fly!

We need $60,000 for the treatment programme and my Mum and Dad and all the people that love me are fundraising for this money.

The younger I am when I receive this treatment the more effective it will be so time is of the essence!! Please give generously - your small change can make a BIG difference.

Love Cullen
